Description
Begin in Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics,” home to the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land located on the floor of the 19th-century St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. This historic site preserves early Christian relics uncovered during 19th-century construction work.
Next, ascend Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land. From this site, enjoy sweeping views of the Jordan Valley, Judah, and Jericho. Visit the Franciscan monastery, which houses relics and mosaics. The monastery is working on the world’s largest mosaic, a 30-meter installation depicting the King’s Highway, inviting visitors to contribute a piece. Workshops for all ages are also available.
