Description

Depart Jerusalem and travel along Israel’s northern coast through fertile farmlands to Magdala, an archaeological site of a fishing village from the Biblical era. Visit a Second Temple era synagogue here where a coin dated 29 AD was found, indicating its use during Jesus’s lifetime and possibly a place where he preached.

Continue north to the western shore of the Sea of Galilee at Ginosar. Visit the Beit Yigal Allon Museum to see a 1st-century fishing boat recovered from the lake, carbon-dated between 100 BC and 70 AD.

Travel around the Sea of Galilee to the Mount of Beatitudes, the site mentioned in Matthew 5-7 and Luke 6 as where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

Next, visit Kfar Kanna, known as Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine. Tour the Wedding Church, which commemorates this event and contains excavated artifacts and a 5th-6th century Byzantine mosaic.

After exploring these significant Galilean and Lower Galilean sites, the tour returns south to Jerusalem.
