Description
This two-day tour covers northern Israel’s key historical and natural sites. Visit well-preserved ancient ruins and learn about their history from your guide. Discover views from Mount Bental and explore the extinct volcano at Birkat Ram. The tour includes visits to significant synagogues and a kibbutz with an overnight stay.
Day 1: Travel north along the coastal plain past Megiddo. Explore the Roman ruins at Beit Shean, then continue up the Jordan Valley to Yardenit, the baptism site. Ascend to the southern Golan Heights via Hamat Gader. From the Shalom Observatory, view the Sea of Galilee. Visit the excavated Talmudic city of Katzrin, then proceed to Mount Bental to see former Syrian fortifications and the Syrian city of Kuneitra across the border. Overnight accommodation is at a kibbutz guesthouse.
Day 2: After touring the kibbutz, travel north to Caesarea Philippi (Banias), one of the Jordan River’s tributaries. Visit the Crusader fortress and the extinct volcano at Birkat Ram. The day ends in Safed, a center of Kabbalah, where you will see synagogues, the visitors’ center, and the artists’ quarter.
