Description
Begin with hotel pickup and a drive to the Mount of Olives for an overview of Jerusalem’s skyline, including the Temple Mount and the city’s ancient Jewish cemetery.
Walk through Kidron Valley, observing notable tombs such as Avshalom, Zechariah, and Benei Hezir, all mentioned in the Torah. Enter the Old City through the Dung Gate to visit the Temple Mount, the site of Solomon’s Temple.
Learn about the history of the First and Second Temples. Visit the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, understanding their significance to Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is linked to the Prophet Muhammad and referenced in the Koran.
If the Temple Mount is closed for security, visit the Tower of David near Jaffa Gate. Explore its archaeological displays and enjoy views from the lookout point.
Continue to the Davidson Center in the Jerusalem Archaeological Park to see First and Second Temple period ruins, including city walls, arches, streets, ritual baths, and the location of ancient main shopping streets. Return to your hotel after the tour.
