Description

Depart from Jerusalem and travel north along the Mediterranean coast, passing Herzliya and Netanya before arriving at the ancient city of Caesarea. Learn about its construction under Herod and its dedication to the Roman Emperor Caesar. Explore archaeological sites including gateways, a moat, well-preserved walls, and rooms. Visit the Roman amphitheater still used for performances, alongside the remains of the Hippodrome and Roman Temple overlooking the ancient port, once bustling with commercial ships and Nabatean caravans. Hear how the city declined after the Crusades.

Continue to Haifa for a stop at the Baha'i Shrine and its terraced gardens cascading down the mountain. Each of the 19 terraces features colorful flowers and detailed landscaping.

Next, reach Rosh HaNikra, Israel’s northernmost Mediterranean point. Descend by cable car into limestone grottoes formed by wave erosion against the rocks.

On the return journey, stop in Acre (Akko), the largest Crusader city in Israel. Explore the well-preserved architecture, lively markets, and ancient residential areas. See the reconstructed walls and moat restored by El Jazzar. Learn about the city’s resistance to Napoleon and visit sites including Crusader remains, a prison from the Turkish era, and the British Mandate gallows used during restrictions on Jewish immigration after World War II.
